Each Signed Annie Laurie purse was painstakingly made by a lady in Palm Beach, Florida, I believe in the 70s. How the puffy birds were made I'm not sure, but I think papier mache was used. Then paint, then many, many layers of clear varnish, each of which had to dry completely before the next application.
Although she used other themes, often flowers, I think Annie's bird purses are probably her most famous. Finding one in excellent condition is a real joy. When I do, I snatch it up!
This bag measures 9" wide x 5" tall x 5" deep. The handle is lucite. The soft quilted lining makes them practical to use.
Near Mint Condition. No nicks, no crazing in the varnish, no stains, no holes in any of the birds. Teeny weeny dent with no pain loss where the handle rests on the lid. Teeniest bit of scratches on the metal hinges. The inside looks beautiful, no dirt, stains, or tears in the lining.
