JUST ARRIVED HERE YESTERDAY, BUT ALREADY SOLD!
This pretty plaid box bag is by Delill, maker of fine quality vintage handbags since 1941. This particular style was often referred to as a "trunk bag" or sometimes a "train bag." Delill bags are coveted and highly collectible, not only for their styling, but also because they hold up so well. Later the name was changed to Lisette where this style continued to be made for some time, but the company has now closed.
This bag measures 8" wide x 6" high (without handles) x 5-1/4" deep. Holds a lot and the easy, double wide opening makes it so convenient for finding things.
The condition is excellent with some light wear on the metal. No rust or corrosion on the metal anywhere. No scrapes, stains, or other wear on the plaid vinyl whatsoever. There is one ink pen mark on the lining inside, seen on the right side in last photo. The clasp aligns and works perfectly.
Unfortunately, the photos do not show how nicely shiny this bag is, especially the beautiful red plaid. This bag is signed "Delill" on the pocket inside, but didn't who up in the photo.
